Why West Port?

Service

  • Just call us and one of our local distributors will come round to measure your windows and doors. You’ll have an estimate with 10 days. They will tell you when your windows will be ready and arrange to install them when it suits you.
  • All our factory-finished windows carry client and site-specific warranties of up to 30 years on the frame, 10 years on the double-glazing unit, seals and hardware, 8 years on opaque coatings or 6 years on translucent coatings.
  • If your windows need any attention in the years to come, just contact our after care sales team.

Bespoke

  • We can supply any type of window and door, from sliding sash to entrance doors.
  • And any style, from a round-headed six-over-six sliding sash with authentic period sightlines and mouldings, to contemporary casements, to one-off bespoke orders.
  • Most of our windows are made from engineered Scandinavian softwood, but you can also choose hardwood or aluminium clad for highly exposed areas.
  • You can choose from thousands of opaque coatings, and translucent coatings, as well. We can even coat your windows with one colour on the outside and another on the inside.
  • The way we make windows means they are pretty much bespoke – effectively a hand made piece of furniture for your home. So if there’s anything you want that you can’t see on our website, just ask us. We like a challenge!

Energy-efficiency

  • Our windows are supplied ready double-glazed to your specification.
  • A-C energy rated windows are available, even with sliding sash windows.
  • U-values as low as 1.2W/m2K can be achieved with double-glazing
  • Our triple-glazed windows can achieve U-values below 1.0W/m2K.
  • 14mm Heritage glass is also available.

Low maintenance

  • Our windows are supplied fully-finished. Coatings applied in factory-controlled conditions ensure even elements of the frame that are not visible are painted, with special attention to joints and end-grain; in fact, we offer an 8-year warranty on the initial opaque coating.
  • Maintenance intervals will depend on the colour of the coating (pale opaque colours last longest) and exposure to the elements, including UV from the sun.
  • We don’t expect you to have to refresh the initial coating until after 10 years – in fact, we offer a warranty on the initial opaque coating of 8 years.
  • You should expect to have to refresh coatings on South-facing windows sooner than those with less exposure to the sun.
  • Frames should be washed down annually, and any damage touched up.
  • When it comes to refreshing the coating, the preparation required should be minimal. And one topcoat should be all that is required to restore the pristine appearance of the frames.

Long life

  • We use the finest slow-growth pine, engineer it to remove knots and defects, pressure treat it with the latest water-borne preservatives, then spray it with water-based coatings under strictly controlled factory conditions.
  • With normal maintenance, our windows have an estimated service life of around 60 years. But with a little extra care, there’s no reason why they won’t last 80 years or longer.*
  • Our windows are an investment that will last a lifetime or longer. Think of them as an inheritance for your children.

Kind to the environment

  • Wood is the only naturally renewable material for window frames.
  • We are able to supply FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®) certified products made from materials sourced in responsibly managed forests (FSC® C017295). Additionally we can supply PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes) certified forests made from materials sourced in sustainably managed forests.
  • Because of the carbon sink effect of the forests and the carbon stored in the windows, our frames are carbon negative, saving an average of 160kgs CO2e over the life of each window when compared with a PVC-U equivalent.*
  • The coatings we use are the latest environmentally-friendly formulations, and we use state-of-the-art waste paint recovery systems.
